The five member Board of Trustees of the Encinitas Union School District is elected by the citizens of the city of Encinitas and the Rancho La Costa area of south Carlsbad. Board members serve four year terms and terms are staggered to allow for continuity during election years. Our Board is responsible for the approval of the scope and focus of the Encinitas Union School District. The Board operates under the authority of the California Constitution, the State Legislature​ , California ​Education Code​ and the California State Board of Education . It is an honor to serve the students, families, staff, and communities of Encinitas and south Carlsbad in the role of Superintendent. Encinitas has had a long-standing tradition of providing an exemplary educational experience for students. From a strong and committed Board of Trustees, to the unique programming at each school, to the innovation in design thinking and real-world project-based learning, to the emphasis on the whole child, there is much to be proud of in EUSD! This upcoming school year will certainly be our most unique year together yet. I am so appreciative of our EUSD community for your patience, understanding, and willingness to pivot with us during these most challenging of circumstances. We continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff. As guidelines and information from public health shifts, our teams are implementing all necessary precautions. This year more than any other, we must reimagine learning to support our students during this pandemic and we must address the inequities and racial injustices impacting education. We have implemented structures to develop systematic plans to recreate how we approach learning and equity. This year provides a unique opportunity and privilege to be able to create and foster learning opportunities in an ever-changing environment. I look forward to embracing our journey together as we continue to pursue the very best strategies and supports in order to serve our EUSD students, families and community.
